If you’re serious about streaming, there are quite some cool gadgets to consider. Apart from investing in your technical quality, some doodads can give your livestream that final touch of luxury. Looking for some of Twitch’s trendy products? We’ll recommend some of the best gadgets for streamers.

Sure, if you’re still starting out, buying nice-to-have gadgets shouldn’t be your primary focus. Consider investing your first budgets on some solid PC hardware, a decent streaming microphone, and maybe a capture card or two. As soon as you feel the quality of your stream is decent enough, then it’s time to add some fun luxuries.

Our recommendations range from beneficial to your set-up, to great options to stylize your set-up. It’s still up to taste, but all of these products suit most content creation lifestyles. With that being said, let’s list some of the best gadgets for streamers.

Elgato Stream Deck — The staple of a streamer set-up

Most streamers have a soft spot for the Elgato brand. That’s not without reason. Elgato has been making many solid capture cards, but successfully branched out with nifty gadgets like the Stream Deck. This fifteen button control panel neatly integrates with many broadcasting suits, making it a native macro pad for transitions, stream alerts and handy shortcuts.

Elgato Stream Deck – Custom A 15 Pack of LCD Key with Live Content...
  • 15 LCD keys: Tap to switch scenes, launch media, adjust audio and more
  • Fully customizable: Personalize keys with custom icons or choose from hundreds
  • Instant engagement: Tweet at the perfect moment

The open-sourced nature of the Stream Deck opens up way more possibilities. Users can deck the device out as a sound board, voice changer, or have it run strings of complex commands. Those who dive deep enough, can program the gadget to fire off all kinds of weird animations and effects in their streams. With all keys displaying custom information, you’ll never mistake one button for the other.

Being a luxury product, the Stream Deck is known to be rather costly. Its popularity drove Elgato to later manufacture a six button Stream Deck Mini, lowering the bar for entry. In addition, there’s also the chunky Elgato Stream Deck XL, coming in at 32 programmable buttons. No matter the size, Elgato’s Stream Decks can be considered the best gadgets for streamers.

Philips Hue (Starter Kit) — Lighting up your studio in style

If you want to personalize your streaming room some more, consider getting some smart light. Philips Hue offers some great RGB lighting solutions that you can screw straight into most light bulb sockets. Being connected over Wi-Fi, you’ll be able to have these bulbs fire off any color mood lighting you want.

  • Easy to Install: To install, simply screw the Smart bupounds into Your desired lamp, overhead light, ceiling fan, or pendant light, then download the...

It’s not fully exclusive to Philips anymore, but smart lights like these can be integrated into your live stream as well. Aside from static colors, users can program the bulbs to “display” events from your stream. Have your lights flicker purple when people subscribe, or make them rave when a fellow streamer raids your broadcast. It’s quite cool to experience while streaming, while also granting a stylized touch to your facecam.

As a small one-up for Philips in particular, the Hue ecosystem can natively synchronize with Razer Chroma. Many games recognize Razer’s proprietary RGB software, and will translate in-game events to all connected lights. This means that your whole room lights up as you fire your ultimate, or flashes red when you take damage. It’s a neat bonus to have, while this doesn’t require any additional programming.

TC Helicon GoXLR — A sound card for the modern age of Twitch

We’ve touched on some external sound cards, but most that are meant to go with broadcast equipment are rather boring. That’s where TC Helicon steps in, with their GoXLR. This XLR microphone adapter also works with professional hardware, but adds some neat tweaks for modern content creators. Not only is it an analog-to-digital convertor, it’s also a sound board and a voice modulator.

TC-Helicon Vocal Effects Processor (GOXLR)
  • Multi-channel mixer: Motorized faders let you control mic, game, music, chat, and more for the perfect Broadcast mix
  • Studio quality MIDAS preamp: Make your XLR mic sound great with 48V phantom power, equalizer, compressor, limiter, de-esser, and Gate
  • Sampler: Record samples on-the-fly or load your own audio files to engage and entertain your community

Consider the GoXLR the love child of a professional microphone adapter, and Elgato’s Stream Deck. There may be more specialized hardware for both factors, but TC Helicon brought them together into an all-in-one package. If you want voice modulation in your streams, the GoXLR offers exactly that, the easiest way possible.

Aside from the technical capabilities, the GoXLR makes for a great streaming companion. The buttons and dials feel well-defined, and there’s even some nice programmability to the integrated RGB lights. All of it feels gamer-y enough to suit many a set-up. This is clearly the start of a new wave in microphone amplifiers, specifically meant for modern streamers.

LaMetric Time — The smart clock that displays follower counts and more

It won’t overhaul your stream, but this gadget still brings a smile to many content creators out there. The LaMetric Time is a smart clock that can be programmed to display basically anything. It’s part regular clock, part customizable LED panel. Through a curated marketplace of user-made apps, the device can easily be tuned to tell the current amount of followers, or display incoming stream notifications.

  • Track time, weather and timers, get smartphone notifications on the clock when your phone is not at hand. Display RSS news, subscriber count in social...

The LaMetric Time is a nice touch to the background of your facecam. If it’s clearly visible in your stream, some viewers might feel inclined to make the numbers go up, or have the gadget display something. If that’s not the case, it’s still a nice way of having your content creation merits displayed around the house. Or, when you feel like it, just a regular clock or kitchen timer. Smart devices can be dumbed down too.

Loupedeck Live — A stream deck for professional content creation

If you don’t have Elgato’s Stream Deck already, or are looking for more functionalities, consider the Loupedeck Live. The Loupedeck brand comes from the professional photography and video industry, making some sleek control units. The LoupeDeck Live is their attempt at a professionally minded alternative to Elgato’s offering. With that come some sleek touches to the device.

  • NATIVE INTEGRATIONS: OBS Studio, Streamlabs (Windows), Ecamm, vMix, Twitch, Spotify, Adobe Lightroom Classic, Photoshop with Camera Raw, Premiere Pro,...

  • POWERFUL CUSTOMIZATION SOFTWARE: Create unlimited pages of controls for Touch Buttons and Dials, assign actions according to your needs and organize...

The Loupedeck Live offers a customizable touch screen, 6 clicky dials, and 8 illuminated and well-defined buttons. Loupedeck offers many custom profiles and with native integrations to broadcast software, but the exact use is all up to you. In addition, the Loupedeck is a great companion to other types of content creation, like video editing or retouching photos. Adobe software in particular comes as second nature to Loupedeck.

As it is more flexible, the Loupedeck also takes some time integrating in your workflow. The possibilities are nearly endless, but Elgato takes the cake when it comes to plug-and-play results. If you just want a quick sound board, the Loupedeck Live might be overkill.

Nanoleaf Rythm Edition (Starter Kit) — Twitch’s trendy background light

If you really want to ride along with the trends among content creators, it seems Nanoleaf products should be your go-to. These brightly illuminated LED panels can be spotted in many of Twitch’s (and YouTube’s) backgrounds. That’s because, well— they just look pretty cool.

Nanoleaf offers their ecosystem of smart lights in many different kits and shapes, but the Rythm Edition proves the most popular. The Starter Kit will get you a sleek hub and 9 triangle-shaped light panels. Their placing is all up to you, as their connection is fully modular. One of these controller units can connect with up to 30 lights, all with adjustable RGB settings.

The Rythm Edition focuses on synchronizing with music sources, but can be programmed to do basically anything. Nanoleaf offers accessible apps and PC software suites to customize panel behaviour. Additionally, the panels can be set to mirror your game’s colors, or to synchronize to Razer Chroma. Whatever way you end up using them, these lights make for great eyecatchers around your set-up.
